I was born in Bucharest, on May 8, 1976, and I attended in the same city the secondary studies at the Orthodox Theological Seminary, and the university and Master’s studies at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology, class of 2001. Between 2006 and 2008 I continued with my doctorate at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Constanța, which was completed in 2020 – 2024 by graduating “Magna cum laude”, at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology of the University “1 decembrie 1918” in Alba Iulia, under the direction of Rev. Prof. Dr. Domin Adam, with the thesis “Vocal study of the Church chant and the aesthetics of Ministry”.
Since September 2001, when I was ordained for the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Tomis in Constanta, I have been serving continuously in the Romanian Orthodox Church. I have permanently combined the service of the Church with teaching activity, since 1997 being a religion teacher at School No. 157 in Bucharest, professor of French at the Orthodox Theological Seminary in Constanța since 2002, assistant professor at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Constanța since 2003, and in the academic year of 2022/2023 teaching as assistant professor at the Department of Church Music and Ritual, at the Faculty of Orthodox Theology in Alba Iulia.
Since July 2001 I am married to Andreea Morariu, and we have two children.
The experience gained alongside personalities of the Romanian Church and the Theology, as well as the accomplished researches, have materialized and continue to be visible through various published articles and books, such as “Autoritatea bisericească în primele veacuri creştine”, Editura BREN, București, 2007, “Le ministère des ordres hiérarchiques au temps de l’Église primaire”, Cercetări în actualitate, Cluj Napoca, Editura Napoca Star, 2023 or “Study on respiration and vocal emission in the art of church chant”, Direcții și teme de cercetare în teologia contemporană 2, Editura Reîntregirea, Alba Iulia, 2022.
Furthermore, the results of the pastoral-missionary activity can be seen in the invaluable contribution of the co-liturgist priest, Antonel Dumitru, and the faithful from the churches established together with him: “Holy Forty Martyrs of Sebaste” Parish in Aurora, Ontario, where we served from August 2009 to March 2015, and “Holy Archangels Michael and Gabriel” Parish in Niagara Falls, Ontario, opened in March 2010. Our combined ministry and pastorate continues fruitfully since March 2015 at “Saint John the Evangelist” Parish in Toronto, Ontario, under the omophorion of His Most Reverend Father Archbishop Nathaniel of the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America.
