Be his Guide always, and accompany him at all times, and surround him with the holy angels. Strengthen him when he is awake, watch over him when he sleeps, comfort him when he weeps, encourage him when he is sad, and deliver him from pain; deliver him from slander, lift him up when he is weak, defeat the demons that fight against him, and help him in the face of death. Every day, make him appear fearsome to his enemies, both seen and unseen, so that they may know that he is Your servant, Mother of God, You who gave birth to the Lord and King, to Whom honor and worship are due forever and ever. Mother of God, soften the hearts of the wicked who rise up against him. You see my father’s toil and pain… only You alone know his sufferings.
